It begins atThirsk , spouting off from theA19 road after about 5 miles it reaches the very steep viewpointSutton Bank , after a steep climb it enters theNorth Yorkshire Moors and theHambleton Hills then it reaches the small town ofHelmsley and the B1257 splits from the road after joining it at Sproxton. It continues on its way east pastBeadlam ,Wombleton andKirkbymoorside before reaching the town of Pickering and meeting the A169 about 10 miles on, passing through theNorth Riding Forest Park it leaves theNorth Yorkshire Moors to join its final destination which is Scarborough.
