cruise missile s that deliver conventional (non-nuclear) payloads and are launched from submarines. Current versions are typicallystandoff weapon s which are used to attack predetermined land targets.Many
ballistic missile submarines are beingretro fitted with new missile tubes capable of firing a large number of cruise missiles to any number of targets. The advantage that the submarines here have over guided missile destroyer and cruiser is the ability to use modern launch systems to fire while submerged.Specific types of SLCMs include:
