Henry Starr was an American
outlaw : specifically, ahorse thief andtrain robber . He was also convicted ofmurder once, of U.S. Deputy Marshal [http://odmp.org/officer.php?oid=14332 Floyd Wilson] onDecember 13 ,1892 . Henry Starr claimed in court to not have known he was a U.S. Marshal and only to know that a man had opened fire on him without provocation. Distantly related toBelle Starr , he was the last in a long line of Starr family criminals. Twice sentenced byJudge Isaac Parker tohang for murder , he managed to escape thenoose due to technicalities and went on to form agang that terrorized and robbed throughout northwestArkansas around the turn of the century. He wasimprison ed in 1915, wrote his memoirs and even portrayed himself in asilent movie , 'A Debtor to the Law' in 1919. He was the first bank robber to use a car in the commission of the robbery. He was killed while attempting to rob a bank inHarrison, Arkansas , in 1921.
