Carpenter's Home Church

Carpenter's Home Church

Carpenter's Home Church (CHC) was a megachurch in Lakeland, Florida, United States. It is based on the charismatic Christian faith. The property contains a full-sized football field and parochial school.

The main auditorium built by Roe Messner seats 10,000 people, and is often used for large-scale Christian music concert, specifically Christian rock. Because of its unique location between Tampa, Florida and Orlando, Florida, it draws from both markets. Many contemporary Christian artists have performed at Carpenter's Home Church, including Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, The Newsboys, Plus One, Skillet, Audio Adrenaline, OC Supertones, TobyMac, Petra, and Zoegirl, among others.

The senior pastor was Karl D. Strader, and his son Stephen R. Strader was the associate pastor from 1978 until 2005. Stephen then started Ignited Church, also in Lakeland, in 2005. [ [http://www.ignitedchurch.com/AboutUs/tabid/1250/Default.aspx About Us ] ]

The property no longer belongs to the Straders or Carpenter's Home Church Ministry, as it was purchased by Without Walls International Church, from Tampa, Florida, pastored by Randy and Paula White. The facility is presently called Without Walls Central (www.withoutwallscentral.org), pastored by Scott and Cindy Thomas, and is an affiliate church of Without Walls International Church - Tampa. Carpenter's Home Church now consists of several smaller churches. Carpenter's Home was once a thriving Charismatic church with five thousand attendees, but now down to 1000.

Carpenter's Home Church is also Lakeland's first Assembly of God church, and is under the Assemblies of God.
Ignited Church (Assembly of God) of Lakeland came out of CHC.

Evangel Christian School

Evangel Christian School was owned and operated by Carpenter's Home Church. It was open from 1974 through 2005. While in operation, the school ran a FM radio station, WCIE, that served the Tampa Bay market.
