United Family Services was founded in 1882 by 100 religious and business leaders who pledged $25 a year each to support the work of the organization. With offices in Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Mooresville/S. Iredell and Union counties, United Family Services has 84 full-time employees and more than 250 active volunteers.

United Family Services’ Mission is to inspire individuals, families and communities to find solutions that create a better future.
United Family Services works in partnership with others, to restore all individuals and families to basic levels of security, self-sufficiency, and belonging, through quality services to ensure that children have mentors, that women are safe, that victims are not left in the cold, that no one is overwhelmed by debt, and that counseling is accessible.
The majority of their consumers are between the ages of 20 and 54 and earn less than $30,000 per year. Each year, UFS helps more than 25,000 people and remains the only agency in the greater Charlotte area to provide the comprehensive resources, education and support needed to live healthy and stable lives.
