"Forget Me Not" is an episode of "Garfield and Friends". It originally aired on December 10, 1988.

Episode recap

Garfield tries to sleep through a beautiful day, but Jon puts him outside. Soon after, Jon puts a pie on the windowsill to cool, and Garfield takes it. Just as he is about to eat it, a tough dog takes it from "him;" then he eats it and throws the pie plate up into the air and leaves. The plate hits Garfield on the head, knocking him out.
Jon runs out and discovers that Garfield isn’t himself, so he has Odie fetch the Garfield First Aid Kit, which contains a lasagna. Garfield waives it, instead asking for a salad. Jon concludes that Garfield has amnesia, so he takes him to the vet. Liz tells him that Garfield may regain his memory if something familiar is put in front of him. Jon tries several methods including getting Garfield to push Odie off the table, having Odie slurp him, and suggesting that he take an afternoon nap. Nothing works, so Jon finally offers him a table full of food, but Garfield only opts to take raisins (normally his most hated food).
Jon then frantically re-offers Garfield lasagna, and Garfield decides to take a walk to find someone to give it to. The tough dog reappears and steals the lasagna, but he becomes suspicious when Garfield welcomes him to it. He gives the lasagna back and runs away, but Garfield pursues him until he is cornered in an alley. Garfield hands him the lasagna and begins to leave, but the dog throws the lasagna pan and it hits Garfield on the head.
Meanwhile, Jon and Odie are lamenting about missing the old Garfield when Garfield walks in, to which Jon offers him lasagna a third time. Garfield shrugs and eats it as well as much of the food on the table; then he kicks Odie off the table. Garfield notices how pleased Jon and Odie are, and although he doesn’t understand it, he chooses not to ask questions.

Notes

*This episode is loosely based on a "Garfield" comic strip story from the 1980s, although in the strip, Garfield developed amnesia after falling off a chair.
*This is the first "Garfield" episode to feature "In the Hall of the Mountain King".

Quotes

Liz: Aside from the bump on his head, he seems to be in fine shape. What makes you think [Garfield has] lost his memory?
Jon: He won’t eat, he won’t sleep, he won’t beat up on Odie or claw the furniture
Liz: And you want me to "restore" his memory?
Jon: Uh…let me think about this for a sec.
Garfield: Why is everyone acting so strangely? And why do they keep calling me Garfield? It’s such a dumb name.
