St. Malachy's Memorial High School (also known as St. Malachy's High School or STM) is a high school in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

History

Saint Malachy's origins, and the traditions which are intinsic to its identity, can be traced back to the nineteenth century when a Catholic grade school for boys was built on the site of Saint Malachy's Church, dedicated to Saint Malachy, who was a missionary Bishop. The curch had burnt down, and was where the future home of Saint Malachy's. Since that time, the school has grown and changed, always adapting to the times, even as it has sustained a tradition of academic excellence in a family atmosphere. Originally an all boys school (taking the place of Saint Vincent's Boys' School), in September of 1976, St. Malachy's opened its doors to girls for the first time. Today, housing a student population of approximately thirteen hundred students, Saint Malachy's has recently expanded and renovated building. As we continue to grow, the principal, administration, staff, students, and suppporters of the school are united in their determination to preserve our "small school" atmosphere to enhance our well-established reputation for academic, athletic and social achievement. Through dedication to the principles of holistic education for all, a growing Advanced Placement program designed for students seeking academic challenges beyond the norm, and in our varied and long-standing offerings in all areas, St, Malachy's is maintaining it's position in the forefront of education in Saint John. As always, "Esse Quam Videri" ("To be rather than to seem") remains our watchword. May it also be our legacy. The school is also very packed.

=Religion= St. Malachy's is one of the only remaining public Catholic high schools in the province of New Brunswick that offers a religion. Religion class is chosen at the beginning of the year and takes place once a week, for a fifty minute period. The Religion classes also go to church a couple of times during the year. For students who aren't of the Catholic faith, a Christian Fellowship, which is for non-Catholics, or study hall is also offered for the same time Religion takes place.
