Alicia Parlette

Alicia R. Parlette (born January 1982) is a journalist and copy editor who was diagnosed with alveolar soft part sarcoma in 2005, while employed by the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. After her diagnosis with this rare form of cancer, she began a diary of her treatment titled "Alicia's Story," [http://www.sfgate.com/alicia] the first installment of which was carried on the front page of the Chronicle on June 5, 2005.

On March 9, 2007, the San Francisco Chronicle published the final installment of "Alicia's Story" under the title "Cancer. Despair. Faith. And now, a blog." [http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/03/09/DDGLROA6C342.DTL] In this installment, Alicia explained that she no longer would remain a "full-fledged employee of Hearst Newspapers" [http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/03/09/DDGLROA6C342.DTL] and instead would be continuing to share her story as a public blog on the Chronicle's website.

On August 17, 2007, Alicia posted her last entry on the website.
