Willie Worsley

Willie Worsley

Willie Worsley was one of the guards for the Texas Western Miners in their NCAA champion season in 1966. He played under legendary coach Don Haskins and was a diminutive 5 foot 9. He later played for the New York Nets of the American Basketball Association.

In the latter 1960's, Worsley took over as coach for the now defunct Children's Shelter "Woodycrest" located in the High Bridge section of the Bronx. In conjunction with James Neal, he oversaw the athletic programs. By the mid 1970's, the organization merged with another Group Home located in Pomona NY, and Worsley subsequently became a director. The organization went bankrupt, and Worsley went on to coach the Spring Valley High School basketball team in Rockland County, NY. Following his basketball career, he became the Dean of Students for the Boys Choir of Harlem and continued coaching the basketball team of Spring Valley High School.
