Pavel Banya ( _bg. Павел Баня) is a small town in the
Stara Zagora Province , centralBulgaria , near the towns ofKalofer andKazanlak . The town is the administrative center ofPavel Banya Municipality . As of2006 it has 2,938 inhabitants. It is famous for itsmineral springs .Geography
Pavel Banya is located 24 kilometers west of
Kazanlak , neighboringKoprinka Reservoir. The town is situated in the central part of Bulgaria, between theBalkan Mountains and theSredna Gora in theRose Valley .History
Pavel Banya is a relatively new community. It was founded after the liberation of Bulgaria from the
Turkish Yoke . About ten families from the village ofTuria formed several neighborhoods around the mineral baths, which grew into the village of Pavel Banya.Religion
People of different religions live in Pavel Banya. The various religious holidays are respected by the populace. There is a
Bulgarian Orthodox church in the town. Although there is no mosque in Pavel Banya itself in the municipality, several of the surrounding villages, some of which are entirely or almost entirely ethnically Turkish, do have mosques.Politics
All Bulgarian political parties are represented in local politics. The mayor of the municipality, Stanimir Radevsky, was elected as an independent candidate. The two vice-mayors are from the
Union of Democratic Forces and theMovement for Rights and Freedoms , respectively.Economy
Pavel Banya's economy is based on
hydrotherapy tourism and cultivation of flower oils (lavender, Kazanlak roses, and salvia).
