Anthony Charles Kaufmann (
December 16 ,1900 -June 4 ,1982 ) born inChicago, Illinois was a Pitcher for theChicago Cubs (1921-27),Philadelphia Phillies (1927) andSt. Louis Cardinals (1927-28, 1930-31 and 1935).He helped the Cardinals win the 1928 and 1930 National League Pennants and the
1931 World Series .Kaufmann led the
National League in Hit Batsmen (11) in 1923 and Home Runs Allowed (21) in 1924.In 11 seasons he had a 64-62 Win-Loss record, 202 Games, 123 Games Started, 71 Complete Games, 9 Shutouts, 56 Games Finished, 12 Saves, 1,086 ⅓ Innings Pitched, 1,198 Hits Allowed, 587 Runs Allowed, 505 Earned Runs Allowed, 81 Home Runs Allowed, 368 Walks Allowed, 345 Strikeouts, 39 Hit Batsmen, 15 Wild Pitches, 4,733 Batters Faced, 6 Balks and a 4.18 ERA.
Kaufmann died in
