Walter Richards

Walter Richards

Walter Reed Richards was a recurring character in the television series, "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". He was played by actor Bill Quinn.

Mary's father.

Walter was a retired doctor (heart surgeon) in the small community of Roseburg, Minnesota. He was married to Dottie Richards and was the father of Mary Richards. He was like most fathers, worrying constantly over his little girl.

He made three guest appearances on the show, but after those, he was neither seen nor mentioned again. Although he worried constantly over Mary, he knew that she could do well, since she had so many people who loved her and watched over her. Presumably, Walter is still in Roseburg, and still keeps in touch with Mary, who finally gave him his first grandchild, Rose Cronin.
