Walter de Clifford

Walter de Clifford

Walter I de Clifford (1113 – 1190) [ [http://thepeerage.com/p10486.htm#i104860] ] ] was an Anglo-Norman marcher lord of Bronllys Castle [ [http://www.castlewales.com/bronllys.html Bronllys Castle ] ] on the Welsh border, and Clifford Castle (from the 1130s [ [http://www.smr.herefordshire.gov.uk/castles/castlesdata_az/clifford_castle.htm] ; up to that point he was known as Walter Fitz Richard.] ), in Herefordshire. He is now best known for his daughter, Rosamund Clifford, with Margaret de Toeni, daughter of Ralph de Toeni [ [http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cousin/html/p106.htm#i6984 My Lines - Person Page 106 ] ] .

He was the son of Richard FitzPons and Matilda the sister of Miles de Gloucester, 1st Earl of Hereford.
