Fernando Ortiz (born December 25 1977, in Corral de Bustos, Córdoba) is an Argentine football defender. He currently plays for Santos Laguna of the Primera División de México.

Ortíz was spotted by Argentine giants Boca Juniors in 1997. He made his debut in 1998 and helped Boca to win the Primera Division Apertura 1998 championship. He only played 8 games for Boca in all competitions, scoring 3 goals.

He was transferred to RCD Mallorca in Spain where he played one season for their B team. In 1999 he returned to Argentina to play for San Lorenzo, he then had spells at Unión de Santa Fe and Club Atlético Banfield before joining Estudiantes de La Plata in 2004.

On December 13 2006 Ortíz played in the Apertura 2006 championship playoff between Estudiantes and his former club Boca Juniors. He helped his side to win 2-1 earning Estudiantes their first league title in 23 years. Shortly after being crowned champion in Argentina, Ortiz signed with Mexican Santos Laguna along with other players in order to help the team avoid relegation.
