(1972)"The Way Of Love" is a song written by Jacques Dieval and Al Stillman. The song was originally written in French under the name 'J'ai le mal de toi' and recorded by Lili Castel for the song competition "Musik Ohne Grenzen" on the Belgian radio (BRT). the French lyrics were written by Michel Rivgauche. In 1965, it was released as a single byKathy Kirby in English. Curiously, while this single failed to chart in her nativeUnited Kingdom , where Kirby placed several singles on the charts in the mid-60's, it became her only song to place on theBillboard Hot 100 .The song's lyrics were penned from a male point of view. Kirby's rendition does not change the perspective, creating a story in which the subject to whom she sings has left her for a male.
"The Way Of Love" was later recorded by
Cher . Her version hit number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1972. It was the second single released from the album "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves".Charts
