Jim Hefferon (b.
October 12 ,1958 ) is a Professor of Mathematics atSaint Michael's College . He is known for his book aboutLinear Algebra that is available fordownloading, withLaTeX source, and for his activity in theTeX community.Early life
Jim Hefferon grew up in
Connecticut and attended The University of Connecticut where he obtained a PhD inmathematics inRecursion theory as a student ofManuel Lerman .aint Michael's days
Jim Hefferon moved to
Vermont in 1990 to take a job atSaint Michael's College . He became an active member of theLinux community, including founding theVermont Area Group of Unix Enthusiasts .He is currently the Chairperson of the Mathematics Department at Saint Michael's.
TeX connection
In 1999 Jim became one of the core maintainers of the
TeX archiveCTAN . He is also a member of theTeX Users Group board of directors.Other interests
Jim is an
