Hangul : 장용석, bornJuly 3 ,1968 inSeoul ,Korea ) is a Koreansociologist andpolitical scientist who is best known for his work inorganizations ,new institutionalism and comparative political andeconomic sociology , particularly his research on the factors affecting national administrative rationalization in the context of the current worldwide movement for governance reforms.Biography
Jang received his
bachelor's degree inSociology withSumma Cum Laude fromYonsei University in 1993, and received hisPh.D . fromStanford University in2001 , where he stood under the influence of John W. Meyer andMark Granovetter . He achieved renown with studies onorganizations andinstitutions : The Worldwide Founding of Ministries of Science and Technology, 1950-1990 (2000) and Sources of Rationalized Governance: Cross-National Longitudinal Analyses, 1985-2002 (2006). He is currently anAssociate Professor ofPublic Administration atYonsei University , and has previously worked atStanford University ,University of Utah andKorea University .Selected Publications
