* Chief Executive John Goulston joined BHR in October 2007, having completed 8 months as Interim Chief Executive at Barts and The London NHS Trust.
John has worked as an Executive Director at Barts and The London NHS Trust and at The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust for the past 10 years. As Interim Chief Executive and previously as Deputy Chief Executive, John led the £1bn redevelopment programme for Barts and the Royal London Hospitals, which includes a shared, long term service vision and plan with North East London Primary Care Trusts. John has also led on the establishment of an Academic Health Sciences Centre with a joint strategy agreed with the key academic and NHS partners. At the same time, Barts and The London has further improved its clinical, operational and financial performance.
* Executive Director of Nursing Professor Dickon Weir-Hughes joined BHR from the Royal Marsden.
Dickon has proven to be an unpopular Director of Nursing to some , who do not like his hands on approach to some appearing abrasive management style and love of micro-management. He is particularly well known for his enthusiasm for old style nursing uniforms and to this end he has introduced 1950's style of dress for BHR matrons, after this was voted for by the matrons who wanted to go back to 1950's standards of care, for their patients . Under his tenure the healthcare commission staff survey shows that staff feel that the trust is no longer a positive environment , there is little job satisfaction and the trust pays little attention to work/life balance. His lack of success in multi-disciplinary education within the trust was also highlighted in the survey when it was revealed that few staff were provided with essential updates. Within the survey the trust sits within the bottom 20% , this has now changed. Due to new measures introduced by Dickon the accident and emergency department is constantly attaining the government standards, his hands on leadership and concern for all has helped . He is committed to the care and welfare of the patients that come into the trust and wants to ensure they all get the treatment and care they deserve.
He has previously had interests Body Building and has been a Consultant in Men's Health and Fitness for Wimpole Therapeutics.
