Written by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee and singer/guitarist John Corabi, "Flush" was originally written and recorded as "Kiss the Sky," a version that was included on the 1999 and 2003 reissues of the album. Lyrically, Sixx claims that the song is anti-suicide.Lee, Tommy, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx and Neil Strauss. ISBN 0-06-039288-6] During the recording of "Kiss the Sky," returning vocalist Vince Neil was having difficulties getting the melody down, so the band called in Corabi to teach Neil the song. It was a session that Corabi felt was awkward.

"Flush" was played live by the band during their tour to support the "Generation Swine" album. While performing the song, the band would play footage found by Lee of people committing suicide, including footage of Budd Dwyer's public suicide in 1987. [Oct 28 1997.
