Hayes School

Hayes School is a mixed secondary school located in the village of Hayes within the London Borough of Bromley. The school is well renowned throughout Kent for its sporting achievements, most notably in rugby, football and cricket, and has produced some of the highest GCSE and A Level results in the country. It has been a Media Arts College Specialist school since 2002. The current Headteacher is Kieran Osbourne.

History

The school became independent from the local Parish school in Hayes village in 1956. At this time, the school took solely male students and consisted only of Gadsden, a Victorian Gothic mansion which now houses the present day Reception, schools offices etc. Soon after its opening, the school accepted students of both sexes and rapidly expanded. In 2006 it celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a fair, which also acted as a Fundraising event.

School Productions

The school has become host to some of the best quality school productions aroundFact|date=September 2007 with its recent production in 2008 "Oh What A Lovely War" was very popular and got a lot of local media attention.

School Buildings

The school has 9 different blocks (A, B, C, D, E, G, H, L, S)The newest block is L block and was opened last year (2007) by J. Stephen & J. Eddie and it was a mark of the 50th anniversary at the school. G Block, commonly referred to as Gadsden, is both the centre of the Business and Economics departments, but also houses the Finance Department, Main Reception and the Headmasters Study.
