Palestinian village in theWest Bank and is a part of the town ofBani Zeid . It is located 26 kilometers northwest ofRamallah and is 499 m above the sea level. It is surrounded by the villages ofKafr al-Deek ,Bruqin ,Beit Rima ,Kafr Ein ,Abud ,al-Lubban andDeir Ballut . The village has an area of 12,800dunums , 4,450 of which are covered by olive groves. Deir Ghassana was an important commercial center in theBritish Mandate of Palestine , where the taxes ofJerusalem andHebron (al-Khalil) were paid in the village. The village had a population of 1,800 in2005 many of whom come from different clans, notablyBarghouti , al-Shu'aibi and al-Rabi. Deir Ghassana had a spurt in its population after the1948 Arab-Israeli War due to the influx ofPalestinian refugee s.ee also
