September 15 ,1969 inMadrid ), is a former footballer fromSpain , who played as acentral defender .A product of
Atlético Madrid 's youth system, Solozábal would play for the first team from 1989-97, switching toReal Betis (1997-2000) before retiring. During 1995-96, he formed a solid centre-back partnership with another Atlético graduate,Juan Manuel López , as the capital side achieved an historic double.He was part of the Spanish side that won the gold medal at the
1992 Summer Olympics inBarcelona , and also received 12 senior caps from 1991-93, the first coming onApril 17 ,1991 in Cáceres, a 2-0 friendly loss to Romania.External links
