Bonne Bell

Bonne Bell

Bonne Bell is a cosmetics company. It was founded in 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio, by cosmetics salesman Jesse Bell, who named it after his daughter. The company was probably best know for its camphor astringent, "10-0-6" lotion. Originally marketed as an all-purpose freshener, it later became popular as a treatment for acne, and was flanked with new formulas for oily and sensitive skin. 10-0-6 was discontinued in 1998, but has been relaunched as "Ten-O-Six" and is available from various online retailers. Bonne Bell also expanded into an entire range of makeup products. the most famous of which was "Lip Smackers".

Lip Smackers

In 1973, Bonne Bell introduced a flavored lip gloss named "Lip Smackers". The first flavor created was strawberry.

Lip Smackers comes in flavors such as fruits, candies, or soft drinks. Some varieties are tinted, while others are "frosted" or "sparkly."

There are now other variations known as Lip D'Votion and Lip Lix (with added color). Bonne Bell is now so popular they make special seasonal assortments for holidays such as Christmas. Bonne Bell has expanded their line to include nail polish as well.

Lip Smackers are aimed at the preteen market and are very popular for girls aged 6-18.
