Inawashiro (猪苗代町; -machi) is a town located in Yama District, Fukushima,
Japan . Inawashiro rests on the shores ofLake Inawashiro , one of the largest lakes in Japan. During theEdo period , it was part of theAizu domain, and was the home of Aizu's secondary castle town. It is also the birthplace of the famous doctor,Hideyo Noguchi who contributed to knowledge in the fight againstsyphilis andyellow fever .
