Slaughterhouse was an industrial metal/noise-rock band from Michigan that was founded in 1983 and dissolved in 1990. Slaughterhouses sound relied heavily on dual bass guitars that was typified by slow feedback heavy noise and pounded drums, punctuated by Madigan's morbid and violent lyrics and Hakim's multi-effect processed guitar.

Biography:

The Early Years (1983 - 1985)

Slaughterhouse was founded in 1983 by Bob Madigan (vocals) and Mark Ramos (bass) in Detroit, Michigan. Both were former members of the local thrash punk band The Nymphos.

"The band we were in was falling apart and being under the influence of The Misfits, Black Flag and Flipper, we decided to start something different."
stated Bob in an Oct. 30 1989 interview with Melissa Kray a staff writer for the local newspaper The South End.
"So we formed Slaughterhouse, wrote about six songs in one night, and I'd say at least four of them are still being played today."
Bob and Mark played with various musicians including Ellen Ruen (drums), who was later replaced by Janice Bogacki, and Larry Hakim (guitar). In September of 1984 with the line up of Bob Madigan, Mark Ramos, Janice Bogacki and Larry Hakim Slaughterhouse embarked on a mini Michigan tour which culminated with the band warming up for Dr. Know at Laura Hall in western Detroit. After the tour ended Janice Bogacki was replaced by David Stanizewski (drums). Roy Kirchoff, ex Disinfect member, a second bass player, joined the group after Roy filled in for Mark during a rehearsal.
