Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute ("AHURI") is a national research organisation, specialising in
housing and urban research andpolicy . It brings together a network of research organisations comprising a small management company, "AHURI Ltd", inMelbourne , and participating Research Centres, throughoutAustralia .Structure
The Institute was established in 1993 and is currently comprised of fourteen universities:
Queensland University of Technology ,University of Queensland ,Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology ,University of Canberra ,Flinders University ,University of South Australia ,University of Tasmania ,Swinburne University of Technology ,Monash University ,University of Sydney ,University of New South Wales ,University of Western Sydney ,Curtin University of Technology andMurdoch University . These universities are joined into 7 AHURI Research Centres across Australia.Objectives
The institute aims to address the issues on national housing and related urban outcomes through the creation and dissemination of
knowledge in housing markets,housing policy and programs, and the urban environment in cities, towns and regions. Broadly, the objectives are to:
* Link quality research and the development of ideas with policy development, program evaluation and project development in the public and private sectors.
* Become a leader in its field assisting policy makers at all levels in identifying trends, establishing possible solutions and drawing together the best information and understanding within Australia whilst drawing upon international experience.Publications
