- Asian Para Games
Asian Para Games is inherited from FESPIC Games,which comes from Far East and South Pacific Games to Disability
The first FESPIC Games was held in Oita, Japan in 1975. Inn those days, there was only a limited opportunity for persons with disability in Asia and the Pacific to participate in sports. The FESPIC Games was launched to realize such an opportunity as could be participated easily from Asia and the South Pacific, and could promote the understanding toward disabled persons in each country and improvement of the social welfare.
The FESPIC Games was held for nine times to 2006, as the biggest multi-sports games in Asia and South Pacific region. In addition to the Games, various FESPIC sports competitions, seminars and workshops have been held in the region, which also contributed to the development of sports for the persons with disabilities in the region.During such period, the FESPIC Federation grew up to have 60 countries and territories as its members .On,May 2004 FESPIC and the APC now calling are merged on the 2006 Games and decided this :
-The 2006 Kuala Lumpur FESPIC Games will be the last FESPIC Games
-Since the 10th Games in 2010, FESPIC Games will change its name to Asian Para Games, it will be held in
Guangzhou ,China .FESPIC/Asian Para Games
