John Patton (born 1822, death unknown) was the 30th mayor of Detroit, Michigan, 1858-1859. [ [http://www.historydetroit.com/people/mayors.asp Mayors of Detroit] ] Little else is known about his life. There was also a John Patton identified as being the Sheriff of Wayne County, Michigan 1869-1870 [ [http://web.archive.org/web/200408-200410re_/http://pages.zdnet.com/sheriffficano/id12.html Sheriffs of Wayne County] ] or as late as 1871. [ [http://www.geocities.com/michhist/news.html Newspaper announcement of Sheriff's auction on August 10, 1871] ] It is uncertain whether the two are the same person or if there is any relation between them.
