Fulbrook consists today mostly of fields grazed by sheep upon the banks of the avon.the ridge & furrow marks on the bank just down from the road are almost all that remains of medieval strip fields that once supported a village upon the site. the village was like many decimated by the black death in the14th century, but doubly unfortunate in that its remaining tennants were forcibly evicted by the duke of bedford for enclosing as a parkland for hunting.nearby charlecote remains deerpark.there are documented reports of a dramatic rise in highway crime on the surrounding roads soon after thevillages evictions. the duke of bedford also built a castle on the site near by a moated house belonging to a widow of noble birth, the moat of which is still clearly visible. local records tellof fierce rivalry between the duke of bedford & noble widow on one side & the earl of warwick on the other, rivalry descending into violence between supporters in warwick on occasions.there was once also a watermill owned by an order of nuns from coventry, & records of gravesfound on the site. later excavations have destroyed almost all traces of the village.
