Louis John DiBella, Jr. (b.
17 May 1960 inBrooklyn, New York ) is a boxing promoter and television/film producer. Among his past and present boxers areJermain Taylor andBernard Hopkins , both former middleweight world champions, the former of whom was dethroned by the new and current middleweight world championKelly Pavlik , also part of DiBella Entertainment isPaul Malignaggi , the IBF junior welterweight champion and Andre Berto who holds the WBC Welterweight belt.DiBella is a graduate of Tufts UniversityFact|date=July 2008 and Harvard Law SchoolFact|date=July 2008. He was head of programming for HBO Sports for more than 10 yearsFact|date=July 2008 before starting his own promotional firm, DiBella Entertainment. He also owns the
San Francisco Giants affiliate, theConnecticut Defenders Fact|date=July 2008. The team based in Norwich, Connecticut, plays in the Eastern League (U.S. baseball). The Defenders play inThomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium , located in Norwich.In 2006, DiBella made his acting debut playing himself as a boxing promoter in "Rocky Balboa" and scenes of the packed arena during his Taylor vs. Hopkins II fight, play in the movie during Rocky's fight scene.
DiBella has expanded his boxing corporation by producing TV/film projects. In 2007, DiBella produced the documentary, "Magic Man," which depicted the life of Paulie Malignaggi and his rise in the world of boxingFact|date=July 2008. The documentary had its television premiere on SHOWTIMEFact|date=July 2008 and later was aired in the UK leading up to the Malignaggi vs. Lovemore fight, where Malignaggi retained his titleFact|date=July 2008.
In 2008, DiBella added the credit of executive producer to his list of accomplishments with the film "Love Ranch" starring Academy Award Winners, Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci and directed by Taylor HackfordFact|date=July 2008. The film is set to be released in 2009.
