Kenny van Weeghel (born
Sep 16 1980 ,Zwolle ) is a Paralympic athlete from theNetherlands competing in the 100, 200 and 400 m T54 classwheelchair racing .He won his first main title in 2001 on the 200 m of the European championships. In 2002 he became world champion on the 100 m, while he won both the 100m and 200m during the 2003 world championships and the 200m and 400m at the European championships.
At the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, he won three medals: bronze on the 100m, silver on the 200m and gold on the 400m. He was elected Dutch handicapped sportsman of the year.
At the
2005 World Championships in Athletics inHelsinki 100m and 200m T54 wheelchair racing was a demonstration sport. In both races he won the silver medal behind British athlete David Weir.In
2006 , Kenny van Weeghel became once more world champion on the 200m, while taking second place (by a mere 0.01 s) on the 100 m behind David Weir.Personal records
