10 December 1979 inEdinburgh ) is a Scottish football player who currently plays for Wroxham.Early life
Notman was born near
Edinburgh ,Scotland and educated atNewbattle Community High School inDalkeith from1991 to1996 .Career
He was a highly-rated youth player at
Manchester United after joining them in 1996, and featured for the Scotland U-21 side. However, he failed to break into the Manchester first team (due to the presence ofOle Gunnar Solskjær ,Dwight Yorke ,Andy Cole andTeddy Sheringham ) and he had loan spells atAberdeen F.C. andSheffield United . Notman signed for Norwich City for a fee of £250,000 on28 November 2000 , making his debut a few days later. He had never made aPremier League appearance for Manchester United, and atCarrow Road he had plenty of opportunities to play in Division One, helping them reach the playoff final in 2001-02 where they lost on penalties to Birmingham City.He damaged ankle ligaments in late 2002 during an
East Anglian Derby match atPortman Road and, after failing to fully recover, retired from the professional game in 2003. Notman signed for non-league King's Lynn in January 2004. However ankle problems continued and he was forced to retire, and had a match in his honour atCarrow Road in May 2005. He returned to football again in 2007, signing forBoston United on their relegation from theFootball League - they were placed in theConference South rather than theConference National due to their precarious financial state which had seen them enter receivership during the 2006-07 League Two campaign. He made his debut in the recently televised Setanta Shield second round defeat to Kettering Town. He moved on to Wroxham a few months later.
He is currently training for his coaching badges.
