Harry Lewinsky

Harry Lewinsky

Harry Lewinsky (full name Harald Francisco Ernst Lewinsky) is a former professional heavyweight boxer and freelance writer. He was born in Werchnedwinsk, Belarus in 1961. His Russian father and his mother, who was of German-American ancestry, ran a sports shop in the nearby city of Nowopolozk.

Already a sports talent, Lewinsky dropped out of school at the age of 16 to pursue a career as a boxer. By the time he was 25, he entered the heavyweight class, and enjoyed local success, winning small championships and in 1987, he fought for the National Title, but lost to Vladimir Liakhovich, uncle of Sergei Liakhovich. His career was cut short by an accident while renovating his parents' house in 1988 that led to a herniated vertebral disk.

After retiring from his professional sports career, he became a sports writer, often published in Beloruskaya Gazeta.

After the end of the Soviet Union, he wrote his autobiography and emigrated to the USA. Harry Lewinsky went on to become founder and president of TRAPPed, an outsourcer for music tour engineering and security services, working with Music greats from Celine Dion to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
