Jango, Pakistan

Jango is a village in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is located at 34°43'45N 72°2'60E [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/3/Jango.html Location of Jango] ] and lies on the main Chakdara-Asban road, it has a population of about 3000. This village has been gradually merging with another village named Tazagram which is located near it. Jango village is the part of Union Council Tazagram. The literacy ratio in this village has climbed high in recent years, as it has been located in Dir District, known as a backward area in Pakistan. The population under 30 and above 10 has a literacy rate of over 80% which is a significant improve from the 5% recorded in the 1970s.

This village has some strong contributions during the wars of Azad Kashmir in 1948, in Afghanistan war against Russia from 1979 to 1990 and recently in Kashmir against India, five of its youth have given sacrifices of their lives in recent war against India in Kashmir, namely :

# Aleem Shah S/O Sahib Dar
# Umar Der S/O Nadar Khan.

Another man martyred in Afghan Jihad is Noor Muhammad S/O Karim Jan.

Apart of the above mentioned persons a large number of other boys like Hameedullah S/O Abd-ul-Matin is still missing as he along with other dozens of his friends went across the border to Afghanistan to fight against US force in 2001.
