Red Bus Diary

Red Bus Diary

Red Bus Diary is book by New Zealand photographer Tim Veling. As part of a Masters project Veling spent two years riding Christchurch's public buses with his Leica camera, exploring the city and photographing sights and scenes that caught his interest as well as talking to people and listening to conversations going on around him, these photos were later published in the book along with the stories of people he met on his journey as well as the story of his own life in the 3 years he spent doing the project.

Forty-nine of Tim's photographs featured in the Red Bus Diary exhibition in Christchurchs CoCA Gallery in August 2006 as part of the "A Place in Time" project, a University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts multi-media project that documents the 21st century. The project attracted nationwide media interest and Veling was interviewed on TV ONE's Breakfast show and featured in local newspapers. Some days I wouldn't talk to anyone but just try and get some sort of feeling for what was happening around me."
