HMS Paladin (G69)

HMS Paladin (G69)

HMS "Paladin" (G69) was a P-class destroyer of the British Royal Navy that saw service during World War II.

Following the sinking of the heavy cruisers "Cornwall" and "Dorsetshire", on April 5 1942, "Paladin" took part in the rescue operations, and assisted in the recovery of approximately 1,120 men from both crews.

While escorting Convoy KR-8 on 12 February 1944, she helped her sister ship HMS "Petard" destroy the Japanese submarine I-27 after it had sunk the SS "Khedive Ismail" with the loss of 1,297 people.

In 1954 she was converted to a Type 16 fast anti-submarine frigate, with the new pennant number F169.

"Paladin" was broken up in 1962.
