Edward J. Scott

Edward J. Scott is an American soap opera producer. He married Young and the Restless actress, Melody Thomas Scott in October 1985, and they have three daughters. In 2005, Edward and Melody renewed their vows in a lavish wedding ceremony.

His firing by Sony Pictures in 2001 from Y&R stemmed from his on-going feud with Kay Alden and David Shaughnessy, as reported by Soap Opera Weekly and SoapOperaCentral. Sony Pictures Television wanted Scott to join the crew of the NBC Daytime's ratings challenged Days of Our Lives, so he left his position as Supervising Producer on The Young & The Restless. Fact|date=August 2007 Since joining Days of Our Lives, and working under Ken Corday, Scott has hired former colleagues such as Mike Denney, Marnie Saitta (Casting Director), Noel Maxam (Supervising Producer/Director) and Kathryn Foster (Director). Mike Denney and Kathryn Foster left the soap opera after Scott's firing however.

Since joining DOOL, the serial reached a record low of 2,097,000 viewers on Friday, June 13, 2008. On Friday August 15, 2008, Scott was dismissed from his postion at DOOL. At the time, it was rumored that he had actively re-written and altered storylines, a union writer's prerogative and not his as executive producer, and that this was the proximal cause for his dismissal [ [http://www.soapoperadigest.com/news/breaking/] ] .
