An initiative aiming at fostering standards for Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX). The SDMX sponsoring institutions are the
Bank for International Settlements , theEuropean Central Bank ,Eurostat (the statistical office of the European Union), the International Monetary Fund (IMF ), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD ), theUnited Nations ( [http://unstats.un.org/ Statistics Division] ) and theWorld Bank . The SDMX message formats have two basic expressions, [http://www.sdmx.org/index.php?page_id=10 SDMX-ML] (usingXML syntax) and [http://www.sdmx.org/docs/1_0/SDMX%201_0%20SECTION_04_SDMX-EDI.pdf SDMX-EDI] (usingEDIFACT syntax and based on theGESMES/TS statistical message).The standards also include additional specifications (e.g. registry specification,web services ).
