SDMX

An initiative aiming at fostering standards for Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX). The SDMX sponsoring institutions are the Bank for International Settlements, the European Central Bank, Eurostat (the statistical office of the European Union), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations ( [http://unstats.un.org/ Statistics Division] ) and the World Bank. The SDMX message formats have two basic expressions, [http://www.sdmx.org/index.php?page_id=10 SDMX-ML] (using XML syntax) and [http://www.sdmx.org/docs/1_0/SDMX%201_0%20SECTION_04_SDMX-EDI.pdf SDMX-EDI] (using EDIFACT syntax and based on the GESMES/TS statistical message). The standards also include additional specifications (e.g. registry specification, web services). The [http://www.sdmx.org/index.php?page_id=10 SDMX standards] have been recognised as an ISO standard ( [http://www.iso.org/iso/en/CatalogueListPage.CatalogueList?ICS1=35&ICS2=240&ICS3=1&scopelist= ISO/Technical Specification 17369:2005] ).
