The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio

The Elizabeth Shepherd Trio is a Juno Award nominated jazz outfit from Toronto, Canada, fronted by vocalist and pianist Elizabeth Shepherd.

The trio is completed with bassist Scott Kemp and drummer Colin Kingsmore. The group made their UK debut during a residency at London's Jazz Café, showcasing songs from their debut record "Start To Move".

The following is taken from the "Do Right Music" profile:

"Raised by ministers of the Salvation Army, an early exposure to the brass band sounds of the Army Band, as well as the sophisticated choral music, mixed with her love for house, disco, classical and hip hop, to lay the foundations of a soulful musician. Having trained extensively in conservatories from Canada to France, and completing a degree in jazz piano from McGill University in Montreal, Elizabeth has emerged onto the Toronto jazz scene where she has already established herself as someone to be watched. Playing in some of Toronto’s most popular spots, the Rex Hotel, the Montreal Bistro, Supermarket, and the Distillery District."

She has also appeared on numerous 'Live in Session' including Gilles Peterson's worldwide show on BBC Radio 1 UK, and Matt Galloway's "Here and Now" show on CBC Radio One in Toronto.In 2007 she appeared on Canadian rapper Abdominal's solo album, on the track, 'Open Relationship'.
