Liverpool F.C. Ladies is the ladies football club affiliated with Liverpool Football Club. They will play in the Women's Premiership for the 2007-08 season

History

The club was founded in 1989 as "Newton L.F.C.". It changed its name to "Knowsley L.F.C." two years later, being founding members of the FA Women's Premier League as such. Since 1994 it has been authorized by Liverpool F.C. to bear its name.

For most of the 1990s they were Premiership mainstays but a lack of support and investment saw them relegated to the Northern Championship in 2000. In 2004 they won the Northern Championship and earned back promotion, but did not stay long as they were relegated at the end of the season, having won only two games.

As in the men's game, their biggest rivalry is with Everton L.F.C., but their recent spells in the second division have led them to develop rivalry with counterparts of lower-level male rivals, such as Tranmere Rovers L.F.C. and Lincoln City L.F.C.. The Merseyside derby was rekindled in the 2007-08 season, when they won back promotion as Northern champions.

Surviving their first season back in the FA Women's Premier League National Division, finishing third bottom, they sacked manager David Bradley at the end of the season.
