Rotten Calder

The Rotten Calder is a river to the east of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

It begins as the Calder Water in Langlands Moss peat bogs, becoming the Rotten Calder after it joins with the Rotten Burn to the south of East Kilbride.

It runs through Calderglen country park, numerous nature trails border the river, in addition to a forest which is part of the park. Otter, Roe Deer and Green Woodpecker can be seen if you're lucky. The river is quite close to Calderglen Castle, and is used for a wide range of sports related activities.

East Kilbride Angling Club have the fishing rights and stock the river with brown trout and puddocks each year. Permits are available from Lightbody twin butchers of Murray Square.

The river flows via the north side of Blantyre before joining the River Clyde opposite Daldowie.
