Beak Street (Manhattan)

Beak Street (Manhattan)

Beak Street is a street in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It was opened on May 11, 1925 by the New York City Board of Aldermen (replaced by today's New York City Council), and runs a total of one block (231 feet) between Payson Avenue and Seaman Avenue in the Inwood Hill section of Manhattan (ZIP Code 10034). The source of the name is unknown, but it is attributed to the family from whom the land was purchased by the city. [The Street Book by Henry Moscow; Fordham University Press 1978.]
