Sisson Documents

The Sisson Documents are alleged forged Russian documents obtained 1918 by Edgar Sisson, the Petrograd representative of the U.S. Committee on Public Information, after whom they are named, which purported to be evidence that Trotsky and Lenin, as well as other Bolshevik revolutionaries, were agents in the pay of the German government during World War I. They were first reported to the press on September 16, 1918 and the New York Evening Post challenged their authenticity two days later saying they originated with Santeri Nuorteva, who was described by them as "head of the Finnish Information Bureau in New York.
