Lakeland College is a post-secondary college in Alberta. It is publicly funded, and maintains two campuses in Lloydminster and Vermilion. Lakeland College also has a learning centre in Sherwood Park. Lakeland has nearly 7,000 full- and part-time students.

Lakeland College is Canada’s only inter-provincial college, as it serves both Alberta and Saskatchewan residents, following a partnership agreement between the governments of the two provinces. The city of Lloydminster stretches on both sides of the provincial border.

History

In 1911, the provincial government established three demonstration farms near Olds, Fairview, and near the Vermilion townsite. The Vermilion farm later became the Vermilion School of Agriculture, then Vermilion Agricultural and Vocational College and today is Lakeland College.Lakeland College was established in 1913 with only 34 students enrolled.

Buildings and Features

Endowment consists of a conference centre, recreation facilities (including an aquatic centre), library and theaters.

Athletics

Lakeland College Athletics includes ice hockey, basketball, curling, golf, rodeo, rowing and volleyball.
