"para"-Aminohippurate (PAH) is a substance used in the measurement of renal blood flow. It is useful in this measurement because it is primarily secreted by the renal tubules; only 20-30% is filtered by the glomerulus. cite journal|title=Effect of 20,60 and 120 minutes of renal ischemia on glomerular and tubular function|journal=Am J Physiol|date=1948-02-29|first=R. The renal extraction ratio of PAH is a normal individual is approximately 0.92.cite journal | author = Reubi, François C. | title = Glomerular filtration rate, renal blood flow and blood viscosity during and after diabetic coma | journal = Circ.
