- Sublime Frequencies
Sublime Frequencies is a
record label that focuses exclusively on "acquiring and exposing obscure sights and sounds from modern and traditional urban and rural frontiers", mostly that fromSoutheast Asia and theArab world . Most of the releases aresound collage s of music, frequently taken from local radio, and thus without track listings and artist names. The label is headed by Hisham Mayet and Alan Bishop of the bandSun City Girls , with the help of his brother Richard Bishop and others. The label's releases are produced in limited quantities (usually 1,000 copies), and are generally not reprinted after these copies sell out; thus, many of the label's releases are out of print. However, the first 39 releases have been compiled as an on-demand DVD-R in mp3 or flac.
