Khok Pho Chai ( _th. โคกโพธิ์ไชย) is a district ("Amphoe") of Khon Kaen Province, northeastern Thailand.

History

The minor district ("King Amphoe") was established on April 30 1994 by splitting it from Mancha Khiri district [cite journal|journal=Royal Gazette|volume=111|issue=42 ง|pages=22|title=ประกาศกระทรวงมหาดไทย เรื่อง แบ่งเขตท้องที่อำเภอมัญจาคีรี จังหวัดขอนแก่น ตั้งเป็นกิ่งอำเภอโคกโพธิ์ไชย|url=http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/DATA/PDF/2537/D/042/22.PDF|date=May 26 1994|language=Thai] .

Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts [cite news|url=http://www.manager.co.th/Politics/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9500000055625|publisher=Manager Online|title=แถลงผลการประชุม ครม. ประจำวันที่ 15 พ.ค. 2550|language=Thai] . With the publishing in the Royal Gazette on August 24 the upgrade became official [cite journal|journal=Royal Gazette|volume=124|issue=46 ก|pages=14–21|title=พระราชกฤษฎีกาตั้งอำเภอฆ้องชัย...และอำเภอเหล่าเสือโก้ก พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๐|url=http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/DATA/PDF/2550/A/046/14.PDF|date=August 24 2007|language=Thai] .

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Mancha Khiri, Chonnabot and Waeng Yai of Khon Kaen Province, and Khon Sawan and Kaeng Khro of Chaiyaphum Province.

Administration

The district is subdivided into 4 subdistricts {"tambon"), which are further subdivided into 40 villages ("muban"). The township ("thesaban tambon") Ban Khok covers parts of the "tambon" Ban Khok. There are further 4 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
