- Prescot Playhouse
The Prescot Playhouse was a purpose-built
Elizabethan theatre in the then-Lancashire town ofPrescot , now inMerseyside ,England . It was built in approximately 1593, and was demolished in the early 17th century. It was a cockpit design.It was one of the few free-standing theatres outside of
London , and most probably served thegentry visiting theEarl of Derby in nearbyKnowsley . SeveralShakespeare plays were performed there.In March 2007 Shakespeare North announced that it was applying for £20 million of
