Adoniram

Adoniram

Adoniram - (Adoram, sourcetext|source=Bible|version=King James|book=1 Kings|chapter=4|verse=6; sourcetext|source=Bible|version=King James|book=1 Kings|chapter=5|verse=14|nobook=), the son of Abda, was the tax collector of King Rehoboam. In the language of the Tanakh, he was "over thetribute," i.e., the levy or forced labor. He was stoned todeath by the people of Israel when he came to collect taxes (sourcetext|source=Bible|version=King James|book=1 Kings|chapter=12|verse=18).

Adoniram appears in Masonic rituals. He was in charge of conscripted timber cutters during the building of King Solomon's temple. I Kings 5:13,14
