March 5 1973 inMar del Plata ) is a retired Argentine football player.Biography
He was born in
Mar del Plata inBuenos Aires Province onMarch 5 1973 . His surname is a Spanishspelling reform of the German surnameSchneider , which means "tailor". He is ofVolga German and Spanish descent.Esnáider played most of his career in
Spain and Argentina, but he also had brief spells inItaly ,Portugal andFrance .He made his professional debut in a game against Vélez Sársfield on
September 2 1990 forFerro Carril Oeste .After only 6 games for Ferro, Esnáider was bought by
Real Madrid , inSpain . Esnaider never really settled in the Madrid team and only scored 2 goals for the team in 28 appearances. Esnáider also played forReal Zaragoza ,Atlético Madrid , Espanyol andReal Murcia in Spain,Cadetes de San Martín , River Plate of Argentina, Juventus of Italy, Porto of Portugal and Ajaccio of France before retiring atNewell's Old Boys in Argentina.During his first spell at
Real Zaragoza and while playing atAtlético Madrid he was considered by many as one of the most promising strikers in European football. His powerful headers and elegant technique were however often overshadowed by his misconduct and foul play in many matches. After missing a penalty kick in Atlético's match againstAjax Amsterdam , he made a ferocious two-footed tackle at Ajax'Richard Witschge , but was lucky to receive only a yellow card. Minutes later Esnáider was enraged when he was subsituted by his coachRadomir Antić , shouting outprofanities . The next day Esnáider was transferlisted by illusive Atlético chairmanJesús Gil .National team
